All Lidl customers will be affected. Decisive change in stores

--

Bad news for Lidl customers! Prices could rise due to inflation even at this supermarket chain, appreciated for its low prices. What could the future hold for us?

Lidl could make its products more expensive

Inflation is putting increasing pressure on Lidl representatives, causing them to increase the prices of specific products. Lidl faces a critical choice: absorb these increases and cut its profit margins, despite having made billions of euros in extra profit thanks to mass sales generated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Loyal customers are worried about the impact the price hike will have on them. With many supermarkets already losing customers due to price increases, Lidl is determined to avoid this situation and maintain customer loyalty.

They will opt to increase prices only for certain products in an effort to minimize the impact on consumers.

At Lidl, the first products to undergo price adjustments due to inflation are:

  • oil, with a price increase of 6.5%;
  • sugar, with an increase of 6.5%;
  • breakfast cereals, up 4.2%.

Major supermarket chains face a highly sensitive situation after manufacturers warned that the worst is yet to come.

The prospect of a long-term price increase is emerging, writes El Espanol. This trend is not temporary, but will be a persistent one. Consumers are the most exposed in this situation.

The surprise bag from Lidl will NOT appear in Romania either

In addition, the bag with “surprise products” for only 3 euros (approximately 15 lei) will not appear in Romania either. This initiative has already been implemented in Germany, Italy and Spain, with the aim of boosting sales of almost expired fruit and vegetables.

Even though this possibility was considered, the local team decided that it would be more appropriate to focus on adjusting the quantities according to the requirements of Romanian customers, who attach great importance to the freshness of vegetable products.

“We analyzed this option for implementation in Romania. At the time of the analysis, we decided to focus our efforts on improving some business processes regarding the vegetable-fruit category.

Specifically, we focused on in-store processes that support the availability of the freshest and best-quality products on the shelf, in quantities adapted to purchasing needs.

We constantly re-analyze such initiatives that have an impact on the prevention of food waste and implement those measures that allow us to optimize stocks in such a way as to reduce waste, but offer the freshness and availability for which our customers choose us”, said the representatives of the supermarket.
