Between March 1-15, the Galati County Commissioner for Consumer Protection (CJPC) controlled two fast-food restaurants and ten mixed shops in the countryside. For the detected irregularities, the Commissioners of the CJPC Galaţi applied 15 contravention fines, in the amount of 44,000 lei, and 12 warnings, definitively stopped non-compliant products and foods from being sold or prepared.

Among the deviations found during the checks, are: the marketing of products with exceeded minimum durability date or with organoleptic changes, the marketing of dangerous cosmetic products, containing Butylphenyl Methylpropional (BMHCA), for which notifications were made to the European alert system for non-food products – RAPEX, failure to display all information related to the country of origin, quality and caliber of vegetables and fruits on sale, failure to mention allergenic ingredients and the nutritional value of food preparations, use of unprofessional utensils, failure to respect the vicinity of the raw material stored in aggregates equipment refrigerators, the use of non-sanitized refrigeration equipment, non-compliance with the storage conditions specified by the manufacturer.

Units from the localities of Tătarca, Tulucești, Matca, Umbrărești Deal, Şendreni, Smârdan and Movileni were controlled.
