A young man from Brașov passed his baccalaureate and went to Germany to study, but there he dropped out of college and opened an IT company. Now, years later, he is a millionaire in euros, the other day selling a large stake in the business.

In 1999, Romania was neither in the European Union nor in NATO, and getting a job with a good salary at a multinational was a rarity. And abroad, in Western Europe it was difficult to leave, not being members of the EU.

Christian Mudure he finished high school at that time, at the Johannes Hinterus National College, with a German profile. He passed his baccalaureate and went to Germany to study there. He began to study economics, but after a year and a half he dropped out, attracted more by the real economy of entrepreneurs.

“I’ve always had entrepreneurial tendencies,” says Cristian Mudure, now 43, for StartupCafe.ro.

In 2012 he opened his IT company Stackfield, based in Munich. The firm has developed a complete collaborative tool that allows teams from different companies to work together under data security conditions. Currently, Stackfield says it has ended up being used by teams at more than 10,000 companies.

“We founded Stackfield in 2012 and, at the moment, we have annual recurring revenues (ARR) between 5 and 10 million euros, with profitability of over 40%,” Cristian tells us.

Cristian Mudure sold, the other day, 30% of the company to a German private equity fund, Nordwind Growth, which is looking for scalable companies with proven business models. The amount of the transaction is confidential, but, as an order of magnitude, it exceeds 10 million euros.

Following this sale, Cristian Mudure kept 31% of the company he founded 12 years ago.
