According to the statements of doctor Claudia Tatarici, spokesperson of the Constanța County Ambulance Service (SAJ), two ambulances and a SMURD ambulance were mobilized to the scene of the incident following a call received during the morning.

At the scene, the intervention teams discovered two patients with major polytrauma, both in critical condition. The victims were initially transported to Mangalia Hospital. The 27-year-old driver suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest during the transfer to Constanța County Hospital and, despite resuscitation efforts, was declared dead.

“The second patient, still in critical condition, required the additional intervention of a SMURD crew with a doctor, to be transported to Constanța County Hospital,” said Dr. Claudia Tatarici. Aged 23, his phalanges were amputated, the doctor continued.

 

The accident was announced around 7:45 a.m., Tuesday morning, and took place at the 2 Mai exit towards Mangalia, on DN 39.

“The police officers sent to the scene found that a 27-year-old man was driving a car and lost control of the steering, and the car collided with a pole. As a result of the road accident, the driver and a passenger, namely a 23-year-old man, were seriously injured,” announced IPJ Constanța.

Images filmed at the scene of the accident show the force of the impact, with the BMW being completely destroyed after hitting the pole.
