At the “Mihai Viteazul” National Military College in Alba Iulia, the awards ceremony of the high school military sport Olympiad – stage I took place on Wednesday.

The event took place in the presence of the deputy commander of the 4th “Gemina” Infantry Division, Brigadier General Nicolae Tonu, the organizing committee, the leadership of the host military college, the athletes, military instructors and coaches, competition referees, college staff and students.

Almost 180 students from the five national military colleges in the country competed between March 29 and April 3 in Alba Iulia in the sports disciplines of orienteering, chess and mini-football, and as applied-military tests, shooting and triathlon. After the contests, the general ranking for the lots will be drawn up by adding up the points obtained in each test/game from stage I and stage II, the latter being scheduled between April 11 and 17, 2024, in Craiova.

The best athletes, their coaches and instructors were rewarded with medals, cups and diplomas from the organizers and applause from those present. At the end of the celebration, the organizers offered plaques and diplomas of appreciation.

For the support given in the organization and running of the high school military sports Olympiad – stage I, Alba Iulia 2024, the president of the organizing committee offered a plaque to Mr. Colonel Marcel Domșa, commander of the National Military College “Mihai Viteazul” Alba Iulia. Also, for the support given in the organization and running of the Olympics, the president of the organizing committee also offered certificates of appreciation.

The event ended with the parade of the sports teams of the five national military colleges.

The high school military sports Olympiad was organized and conducted by the Military Physical Education Service of the Defense General Staff, based on the sports calendar for 2024.
