The Psychiatric Hospital, expanded with Swiss money?

The project was presented to the Ambassador of Switzerland in Romania, His Excellency Massimo Baggi

His Excellency Massimo Baggi, the ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Romania, is currently making his first official visit to the city and county of Brasov. Thus, on Tuesday, April 2, the distinguished guest had a meeting at the headquarters of the Braşov County Council (CJ) with the president Şerban Todorică, in which Cătălin Văsii, the prefect of the Braşov county, took part, together with Cristian Macedonschi, the president of the Smart City Braşov Association.
“I am particularly pleased to be the host of this meeting and, in this way, to consolidate and diversify bilateral collaborative relations. Switzerland is a superb country from all points of view, it is a model towards which we strive in all fields”, stated the president of the CJ, who made a presentation of the main investment areas and projects on the priority agenda of the county authority. The operationalization of the Braşov-Ghimbav International Airport, the investments in modern equipment for the hospitals under the administration of the CJ, the improvement of the connectivity of the Braşov county through the rehabilitation and modernization of the road network or the steps to build a new psychiatric hospital were among the topics presented by the head of the county administration.

Funding available: dual education, energy efficiency and health
In his speech, the ambassador presented the fruitful Romanian-Swiss bilateral relations that include commercial, scientific and cultural exchanges, noted the development of dual education in Romania – all the more so since Brasov was a trailblazer in this field, and specified the fact that Switzerland is found year after year among the top ten countries in terms of the volume of direct investments in Romania, with top investments in the pharmaceutical industry, construction materials, but also in retail. “The friendship between our countries is very solid and we will strengthen it through good bilateral cooperation”, said Ambassador Massimo Baggi. The high official presented the funding available for Romania through Swiss funds and was convinced that Brasov County could attract funding in three areas of interest: dual education, energy efficiency and health.

What Switzerland could finance from the new hospital. However, the final decision rests with the Ministry of Health
“If you ask me about an objective that would bring a significant impact in our community, I answer you without hesitation: the construction of a building for the psychiatric wards of the Clinical Hospital of Psychiatry and Neurology Braşov. Mental health is a major concern, and statistics show that many Romanians face various problems related to these pathologies. It is time to act and provide the necessary support to those who need it”, stated the president CJ Braşov, who mentioned that this project, for which he recently signed the contract regarding the preparation of the Feasibility Study, is the most suitable investment for accessing the funds from the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Program, especially since the treatment component of addictions is among the funded priorities.
“The health component of the Swiss funds is managed by the Romanian Ministry of Health, so when you have all the documentation completed, we can take steps in parallel for this project to receive funding. We do not allocate funds for the construction of the actual infrastructure, but we finance technical assistance, expertise, training and the implementation of technology, so that certain components of the project can be financially supported with Swiss funds”, said the ambassador at the end of the discussions.
The visit of the ambassador of the Swiss Confederation continues, with visits to the Braşov-Ghimbav International Airport, the Prejmer Industrial Park and the Bran Castle on the agenda.
