The representatives of employees employed as personal assistants within the Târgu Mureş Social Assistance Directorate are organizing a protest today, April 2, 2024, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in front of the Prefect’s institution.
“We are protesting for the injustices we have been subjected to lately. Through ordinance 19/2024, the governors considered that we must be excluded from the salary increase grid that includes the occupational family, assistance and social health. Thus, we effectively no longer appear in the salary grid, and if you also go to law 153, where the latest changes are made, you will see that the personal assistant no longer appears in that salary grid. We want to be included again, I understand that an amendment has been submitted in this regard and is to be debated in plenary in Bucharest. Seniority grades miscalculated, personal assistants are not ranked by seniority, they all have the same salaries. Not granting an increase in stress, risk or difficult working conditions. Our employer, who is also a credit orderer, has the obligation to identify the category of increase to which we fall and the funds from which it will be paid. It has the obligation to grant this increase for personal assistants, not to limit salary rights by not granting it,” said Chiorean Mirela, the representative of salaried employees in the position of social assistants within DAS Târgu Mureș, delegated to also represent personal assistants in the county.
The personal assistants request an increase in allowances for people with a degree of disability, the situation has become critical and increasingly acute with the general increase in prices, according to what was added by Mihai Trif, employee representative. A person with a severe disability in the degree of severe disability has 660 lei monthly allowance from which they must pay for treatment, recovery, depending on the disability, hygiene products, special clothing, varied and diversified foods, medicines, nutritional supplements.
At the same time, the Protestants demand decent and real social services in Târgu Mureș and in the county, settled therapies, respite centers, day centers and attention to deinstitutionalization.
“We want a day center in Târgu Mureș, at least one, a respiratory center, at least one, if possible one for adults with disabilities, separate from another for children, a center for the necessary therapies, because we are tired of we do therapeutic tourism in other counties or even in the capital”, added Chiorean Mirela.
People with disabilities also participate in the protest, along with their companions.
