The city where USR and PNL decided to form an alliance, although at the central level the two parties are rivals

Although USR and PNL are in full political rivalry at the central level, in the city of Intorsura Buzăului, in Covasna county, the representatives of the two parties decided to ally themselves for the local elections on June 9.

The current mayor of the city, Raul Urdă from the USR, will also be supported by the PNL for a new mandate, and the current vice mayor, Silviu Popica from the PNL, will in turn receive the support of the two parties to keep his position after the elections local from this year, writes the local publication covasnamedia.ro.

Both the current mayor of Intorsura Buzăului, Raul Urdă, and the vice-mayor, Silviu Popica, are in their first mandate, won in 2020. The announcement of the alliance was made by the president of PNL Covasna, Olimpiu Floroian, on Saturday.

“Today I signed the protocol establishing the PNL-USR alliance, for the local elections in the town of Intorsura Buzăului, with the conviction that it is the best option for the development of this area with a Romanian population of Covasna county”, he announced.

Raul Urdă and Silviu Popica went public with a joint message in which they say that the alliance at the local level between USR and PNL is “a sign of political maturity”.

“We decided to form an alliance, the “Alliance for the Return of Buzăului – USR-PNL”. We consider that this alliance is a sign of political maturity, through which we want to continue the good projects started, through which we all ensure the development of the city for the future of our children. Great things are always done in a team! We come before you with an open heart and with the feeling that we have done our duty and respected the oath taken at the beginning of the mandate. Thank you for all your support,” the two said.

Before the 2020 local elections, the city of Intorsura Buzăului was led by Leca Băncilă, a history teacher, who was in PSD and ALDE.
