In a few days, a new electoral race begins and, obviously, the biggest battles are fought for the two municipalities: Târgu Jiu and Motru.

In Târgu Jiu, being the most important town hall in the county, all parties have established their candidates. By far, the close fight will be between PSD and PNL candidates, between Marcel Romanescu and Iulian Popescu.

Romanescu has been mayor for seven years and many projects that he has put on the headlines during this period are being implemented, accuse Târgujiens, of salvation. From a post office you can see, for example, how the work was done on the Path of Heroes. Although the works are finished, no reception was held, and sources say that the manner in which they intervened is the subject of a criminal investigation. Another project brought before the mayor is represented by the 600 apartments that will be built in the Narcissos area, but which Victor Banța, deputy secretary in the Ministry of Development, said from the beginning that there was a risk of remaining empty because they would not be found so many beneficiaries in the municipality of Târgu Jiu to live there. The newly paved and broken streets a few days away also did not make the bargain hunters happy.

Drawing a line, we find that the current mayor does not enjoy much popularity among the bargain hunters at election time.

His main opponent, Iulian Popescu, from the PNL, promises a new lease of life for the city, smart investments, cleanliness, more emphasis on everything Brâncusi means in the municipality of Târgu Jiu because the municipality is still suffering in this regard. After so many years, his monuments are not valued as they should be nor promoted as they deserve. There is no point in discussing how to intervene around sculptures of inestimable value.

On behalf of the United Right, former prefect Corneliu Răducan Morega is running.

From AUR, Ionelia Priescu submitted her candidacy. Former deputy mayor Adrian Tudor is running on behalf of the Greens. Marian Cioplean is running from PUSL, Marian Ciofîcă submitted her file as an independent candidate. Former prefect Liviu Andrei is also trying his luck. He is running on behalf of the National Christian Alliance, a party coordinated in Gorj by Constantin Pănescu, the leader of the Association of Concessionaires from Rânca.

The last entrant in the race is Gabriel Coica, currently deputy mayor. He joined SOS, the party of Diana Șoșoacă, and will run against its current boss, Marcel Romanescu.

Everyone is also waiting with interest for the electoral program of the candidates. Thus, the people of Târguji can get an idea of what projects are in mind of those who enter the race for the most important mayor of Gorj and, above all, which promises are achievable because people are tired of election donuts and not they can still be sweetened with them.

Five candidates, at Motru

The current mayor of Motru has much fewer opponents. Cosmin Morega wants another mandate from the PSD. Former mayor Gigel Jianu is running from the PNL. Eugen Corcoață, former head of the Thermal Agent Plant in Motru, also entered the competition on the AUR list. Mihai Bîzu is running on behalf of Pro Romania. The five are the candidates who officially announced their entry into the race for the mayor of Motru municipality.

And in Motru, the fight will be between PSD and PNL, and the current mayor hopes to improve the people of Motru with six palm trees, with exotic air before Easter. The palm trees were bought with public money before the election campaign and were planted in the center of the municipality.
