The Roman Catholic Diocese intends to expand the complex in the center of Iași. In this sense, a Zonal Urban Plan (PUZ) project was initiated which, on April 19, will be the subject of a public debate at the Iași City Hall.

According to the project, the intention is to create a multifunctional center that serves the needs of the religious community as well as those of the wider urban and cultural community. “The proposed constructions do not affect the perspectives of the monuments in the area due to their height regime, they are integrated into the existing built framework”, it is stated in the PUZ project.

The functions proposed for the new buildings are a place of worship, a parish house, various spaces (commercial or for meetings, meetings, conferences, receptions, exhibitions, etc.), offices and administrative spaces, services, accommodation (with a restaurant, lounge and a cafe ), bookstore, library, museum, medical activities and underground parking.

The Roman Catholic Diocese says that the rehabilitation of some existing buildings (those located at Colonel Langa str.) requires insignificant interventions. The new buildings are planned on Colonel Langa Street and in the free construction zone towards Trei Hierarhi Pass.

At this moment, the buildings in the complex occupy an area of 4,500 square meters. Following the implementation of the proposed project, the buildings in the complex will occupy 7,100 square meters. “A unitary urban framework will be created, with specific architecture, molded on the land, well connected to the neighboring areas that will increase the activity and interest of the area, replacing the current degraded image”, the PUZ also states.
