American Danielle Collins’ fantastic streak of 15 consecutive victories came to an end in the round of 10 of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid, where she was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka, score 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Champion in Miami and Charleston, Collins (15 WTA) started the match better and won the first set 6-4.
Danielle had two break points at 4-3 in the second set, but missed both and then lost a service game. Aryna (2 WTA) took advantage and won the match 6-4.
Winner of the last two editions of the Australian Open (2023 and 2024), Sabalenka was the better player in the decider and prevailed 6-3.
To know:
- This was the fifth meeting between Sabalenka and Collins, and the athlete from Belarus won each time (three matches took place at the US Open).
- For Aryna, there is a match with the talented Mirra Andreeva (43 WTA / 17 years old). Sabalenka prevailed in the first direct match, last year, at the Caja Magica tournament (in the round of 16).
