Initially, Daniel Ovidiu Haraga was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison with suspension for theft. But he did not fulfill his obligations imposed by the judges, so that, notified by the Bihor Probation Service, the Oradea Court decided that the man should serve his sentence behind bars. He could not be found by the policemen who searched for him to take him to the penitentiary, so he was put under national investigation.

He robbed the house of a man on vigil

Daniel Ovidiu Haraga was accused of breaking into a house in Gepiș whose owner he had just seen at a vigil on October 5, 2021. Unperturbed by anyone, he went inside and stole 1,700 lei from a drawer.

He was helped by two teenagers, one 14 years old and the other 16 years old, whom he made to stand guard, so that they would not be surprised by the owner of the house or any neighbors. All three then went to the home of the brother of one of the minors, to whom they offered 200 lei to let them sleep at his place.

They confessed to him that they had stolen the said money, so that, a day later, the man they called to host them reported them to the Police. It didn’t take long and the thieves were caught by the investigators. The minors said that they used the stolen money to buy drugs, which all three of them consumed.

Haraga did not appear at the trial held at the Oradea Court, even after he was summoned with a summons, so he could not be heard by the court. However, he escaped with only a suspended sentence, given in February 2023, while his juvenile accomplices were placed in an educational center for 10 months and 18 months, respectively.

The court set several obligations for the 34-year-old man, but he did not comply with them. When the probation officer and the police went to Daniel Haraga’s registered address, they found several people there who told him that he had not lived there for three years and that he was abroad, unbeknownst to him. exactly where

As a result, the Oradea Court decided in February of this year to revoke the suspension of the sentence applied to Haraga and to force him to serve the sentence in prison. The court noted his “disinterest and contempt for the state’s response to his criminal conduct. The respondent chose not to take responsibility for his own actions, going abroad in order to evade the execution of the criminal sentence pronounced against him.”
