The Sibiu police together with the DIICOT prosecutors carried out 27 searches on people investigated for high-risk drug trafficking and operations with psychoactive products. Eleven dealers were remanded in custody.

Police officers of the Sibiu Organized Crime Service, together with the prosecutors of DIICOT – Sibiu Territorial Office, documented the criminal activity of several people, investigated for committing the crimes of high-risk drug trafficking, illegal possession of high-risk drugs for consumption own and carrying out, without right, operations with products likely to have psychoactive effects.

“The probation office in question revealed that, between June 2023 and March 2024, they repeatedly possessed, handled and sold, to consumers in Sibiu County, various amounts of the crystalline substance 2-CMC, 3-CMC and 4-CMC (high-risk drugs) and 2MMC (psychoactive substance), with amounts between 100 and 200 lei for a dose”, says Luciana Lazăr, spokesperson of the IOJ Sibiu.

Searches and in the penitentiary. 11 arrests

On March 28, 27 search warrants were implemented in Sibiu and Hunedoara counties, including in a penitentiary unit, and sachets prepared for sale containing crystallized substance, various tablets, over 500 envelopes were discovered and seized ziplock type (new), mobile phones and SIM cards, sums of money in lei and euros, digital scales, objects bearing traces of substances, as well as other means of evidence.

On March 28, 2024, the prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Sibiu Territorial Office ordered the detention of 13 investigated persons for 24 hours.

During this day, the rights and freedoms judge of the Sibiu Court was notified, with a proposal for the preventive arrest of 11 of the persons, for 30 days. In relation to two others, the prosecutors of DIICOT – Sibiu Territorial Office ordered the measure of judicial control.

Specialist support was provided by the Special Operations Department of the Romanian Police. The action benefited from the support of police officers from the Sibiu County Police Inspectorate.
