Starting from April this year, the “Ovidius” Theoretical High School in Constanța is the beneficiary of a grant awarded through the PROBLEU – Promoting ocean and water literacy in school communities project, co-financed by the European Union through the Horizon program.

The project proposal of “Ovidius” High School with the title “Blue Trails – Navigating Ocean Literacy for a Sustainable Tomorrow” has been selected for implementation, which will take place until March 2025. During this time, the high school aims to bring together The European Network of Blue Schools, of which three more high schools and several secondary schools from Bucharest, Brașov and Iași are part of since its establishment in 2020.

The project coordinator, Prof. Carmen Bucovală emphasizes that “the project is part of our efforts to promote the understanding and exploration of ocean sciences, offering students the opportunity to participate in training sessions, experiments and projects focused on investigating issues that affect the quality of the marine environment, such as pollution, overexploitation of resources or climate change, which require immediate and informed action for protection and conservation. Through interactive workshops, hands-on experiments and study visits, we aim to stimulate students’ curiosity and creativity and encourage critical thinking about ocean sciences.”
