The mayor of Onesti, Laurentiu Neghina, definitively lost the case with ANI

The mayor of Onesti municipality, Laurentiu Neghina, lost the case with ANI yesterday. The decision is final and was given by the High Court of Cassation and Justice:

“Rejects the appeal filed by the plaintiff Neghină Victor Laurenţiu against sentence no. 85/2022 of September 23, 2022 of the Bacău Court of Appeal – Second Civil Section, Administrative and Fiscal Litigation, as unfounded. Definitive. Pronounced today, March 26, 2024, by making the solution available to the parties through the mediation of the court registry.” is shown in the decision

He would lose his mayoral mandate, but things are not clear, whether he will be able to run or not. Neghina announced his transition to the PSD just 5 days ago and specified that he will run for a new mayor’s mandate from the social democrats. It would be the second time Neghina was dismissed by the prefect due to an incompatibility decision.

The president of PSD Bacau, Dragos Benea, stated today, in a press conference, that the situation in Onesti is not clear and that Neghina cannot be “punished twice for the same deed”. Benea stated that the motivation is expected to see the next steps. In any case, the MEP confirmed again that the team for the Onesti town hall will be formed around Laurentiu Neghina, whether or not he can run for a new term as mayor.
