After half a decade of waiting and suspense, the League of Students from Târgu Mureș (LSTGM) organized on Saturday, March 23, the famous Ball of Freshmen from the “George Emil Palade” University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology in Târgu Mureș, an event that compresses the importance of aesthetics, talent and imagination of novice students into a large-scale show. The event took place at the Hotel Imperial Inn in the Municipality of Târgu Mureș and had two key moments: the show dedicated to the freshmen and the after party animated by the band Bosquito.

The freshman show

In the academic tradition, freshman proms are those parties where couples of participants enter various contests to obtain the much-coveted title of Miss&Mister freshman. The freshmen of the Târgumures university had to complete three interesting tests, elaborated by the members of the LSTGM, namely: the individual talent test, in which each freshman showed his artistic skills by dancing, singing, drawing, playing theater plays, etc.; the couple test, in which the couples performed roles from an artistic film nominated by LSTGM members, respectively a surprise test, which consisted of a treasure hunt challenge, in which the participants had to look for ten objects hidden in the perimeter of the performance hall. In total there were six pairs of participants, organized as follows: pair No. 1 – Dalia Bruslea & Marius Glodean, pair No. 2 – Delia Bendriș & Claudiu Boroș, pair No. 3 – Iulia Babici & Ciprian Gubernu, pair No. 4 – Ruxandra Cristea & Laurențiu Moldovan, pair No. 5 – Bianca Pașca & Horia Crăciun, pair No. 6 – Teodora Gheorghiță & Tudor Rădeanu. The show ended with a waltz performed in the most refined style by the couples of the participants.

Welcoming the participants

After the three tests, the jury, formed by: Baciu Vanesa- Miss Freshman UMFST 2019, Maros Gianluca- Mister Freshman UMFST 2019, Prof. Univ. Dr. Ovidiu S. Cotoi, Prof. Univ. Dr. Giordano Altarozzi, Head of Works Dr. Cătălin Coșarcă, Head of Works Dr. Molnar-Varlam Cristina, Conf. Univ. Dr. Anda Cârje, determined the winners. They were: Miss Freshman UMFST 2024 – Iulia Babici, Mister Freshman UMFST 2024 – Laurentiu Moldovan, 2nd place Miss Freshman UMFST 2024 – Ruxandra Cristea, 2nd place Mister Freshman UMFST 2024 – Tudor Rădeanu, 3rd place Miss Freshman UMFST 2024 – Dalia Bruslea, 3rd place Mister Boboc UMFST – Ciprian Gubernu, Miss Popularity 2024 – Delia Bendriș, Mister Popularity 2024 – Marius Glodean, Miss Originality 2024 – Bianca Maria Pașca, Mister Originality 2024 – Claudiu Boroș, Miss LSTGM 2024- Teodora Gheorghiță, Mister LSTGM 2024 – Horia Christmas.

“This year’s ball was long awaited, being such a long break since the last edition which was only in 2019. It was a successful event, everyone worked, the freshmen gave everything they could, the seniors were by their side at every moment to support them, and the organizers tried to make an event for all tastes. The feedback was positive from everyone, from the freshmen, from the public, from the university and also from the sponsors. We will definitely continue with the Freshmen’s Ball next year as well, we have already started discussions about the period in which we will hold it, we hope to have freshmen as excited in the editions to come”, Paula Pughiuc told Zi de zi daily, the president of LSTGM.
