Britain sends 2 ships to the Black Sea, where Russia has mobilized dozens of drones. What attacks

“It’s about reconnaissance. They’re constantly looking for targets for possible attacks,” the spokesman said.

“It is no longer a threat to Ukraine: The number of Russian drones has doubled in key combat zones in Ukraine,” he said.

Ukrainian air defense shoots down such drones every day

Most often, the Russians use Orlan-10, Zala and SuperCam drones for reconnaissance in Ukraine. Iranian-made Forpost or Mohajer-6 drones are much less common, with the latter operating mostly over the Black Sea, Pletenchuk added.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported downing all four Russian Shaheds and one drone of an unspecified type out of five during an overnight strike. Russia also launched an S-300 missile.

British ships for Russian and Ukrainian mines

Sandown-class warships HMS Grimsby and HMS Shoreham have been decommissioned by the Royal Navy to be transferred to the Ukrainian military, where they will operate as Chernihiv and Cherkasy.

The ships, which have each served more than 20 years in the Royal Navy, arrived at Portsmouth Naval Base after departing from Scotland.

They will remain in Portsmouth while crew members undergo training to be ready to hunt for mines in the Black Sea.

There is, however, a problem.

A Ministry of Defense spokesman said: “Ships cannot currently enter the Black Sea due to the terms of the Montreux Convention, which restricts the passage of military vessels through the Bosphorus in time of war.

Turkey has announced that HMS Grimsby and HMS Shoreham, named “Chernihiv” and “Cherkasi”, will not be able to sail in the Black Sea during the war.
