The US Congress will vote on a long-delayed bill that would provide about $60 billion in aid to Ukraine after the House of Representatives returns from Easter recess on April 9, The Telegraph reports.
“The speaker has made very clear statements that when we come back, this is the next top agenda item,” Mike Turner, chairman of the House Select Committee on Intelligence, told ABC News.
Turner added that House Speaker Mike Johnson made it clear to President Zelenskiy that he supports Ukraine.
His comments come after Johnson announced yesterday that a US aid package would include “some important innovations”, including the possibility of extending a US loan.
Last month, the idea of a loan took shape among US lawmakers as a way to support Ukraine in a way that could ease conservative concerns about additional aid.
Kiev has suffered from a shortage of shells in recent months as it tries to repel Moscow’s advances amid delays in US support.
