Gabriela Firea has the first chance in the elections for the Capital City Hall, if Sebastian Burduja reaches the PNL score in Bucharest and takes votes from Nicusor Dan’s electoral pool, says PSD senator Vasile Dîncu to RFI.

On the other hand, he believes that the idea of a common candidate for the PMB was a project “perhaps slightly utopian, because it came a little late”: “Vasile Dîncu says about the elections in Bucharest that they will be “an electoral show in the campaign and at the vote We will have, in my opinion, a rather close vote, it will be a battle between the party vote and Nicusor Dan’s attempt to maintain the status quo (…) The entrance of Gabriela Firea at this moment to Sebastian Burduja somewhat spoils the balance or the battle that seemed to be one on two between Popescu Piedone, the candidate coming from the people, let’s say, from the street, and the general mayor of the Capital. So it changes, it becomes a party battle, in which the force of mobilization of the PSD propels Firea from first to second place (…). The fight will be a close one to win the Capital”.

The PSD senator believes that Gabriela Firea “needs the mobilization of the party, the activation of the PSD organizations and obviously the support of District mayors who have a good reputation, a good trust from the public. Then, she must make the best use of her former activity as a minister or her former activity as a mayor. And last but not least, I studied the dissatisfaction of Bucharest residents, there are 63%-64%-65% of Bucharest residents who are dissatisfied with certain aspects of the habitat in Bucharest, of life in Bucharest, aspects related to urban planning and who say that worsened”.

Vasile Dîncu states that “when she and Burduja enter the fight, Burduja, as a young candidate, with a very good image, minister, will certainly take something from the right-wing electorate, which initially voted for Nicusor Dan and which was also now in Nicusor Dan’s area. So in the end, in this competition, in which PSD and PNL do not go together, the combination of the two candidates, what Mr. Burduja does, can support Mrs. Firea in this battle, that is, she will certainly take votes from Nicuşor Dan . If it reaches the level that PNL has in Bucharest, then Firea has the first chance to win”.

The PSD senator declares that the idea of the common candidate for the PMB came too late: “In Bucharest it was a project perhaps slightly utopian, because it came a little late, but it was a project to show that the alliance can work very well in Bucharest, in – a symbolic place for Romania and from here on a political alliance to go further (…). The fact that it didn’t work shows several things, it shows that we weren’t organized well enough, because if we had launched a common candidate six months before, it could have been tested, a campaign could have been made much more focused on the target audience, with ideas and on important aspects of value judgment (…). It’s a lesson for another time to think about long-term political projects, to think in advance, not to do them overnight, I think that was the main problem”.
