She received a Whatsapp message from Brad Pitt promising her a gift: he would send her a box with $50,000 inside. This was the climax of the scam. While the Civil Guard investigates the case, Elena wants to warn other people, to prevent other women from being deceived in a similar way.

“Brad Pitt texted me on Tik Tok to give me a VIP membership card. I subscribed with all my data and he started messaging me on Whatsapp. He showed me a driver’s license with his photo on it. I was speechless”, says the Romanian.

Asked why she wanted so much to get in touch with Brad Pitt, the woman answered: “He visited Romania in 2000 and I saw him from about 50 meters away. I really liked him in the series Dallas, which was broadcast in my country in 1987 or 1988, at the end of Ceaușescu’s dictatorship. I really appreciate him as an actor. I liked it in Troy”.

Elena also told that at one point, during the exchange of messages with the person who claimed to be Brad Pitt, he said to her: “Be careful not to play with me too much, I am a simple and loyal woman, but be careful that I strike madness and I will denounce you’.

He received the first message in October 2023 and even now, after making a complaint to the Police, he continues to receive messages: “Even since Monday I have a message in which Brad Pitt says that now he is very disappointed because I do not answer him.”

In the first message, the fake Brad Pitt proposed to give her a VIP card, for which she had to give her personal data: “With that VIP card I participated in some events, I received gifts, celebrities came to meet me and gave me financial help.” it’s the promises that convinced Elena to sign up with all her personal information to receive the card, including a foreigner’s registration number, basically Spain’s identity card.

How did they get her to send the money? “They gave me a gift package, which came from the United States. They sent me a photo of the contents. There was jewelry and a lot of money, up to fifty thousand euros, and I only had to pay one thousand euros in customs duties to receive it. I made the transfer via MoneyGram, went to look for the package and it wasn’t there. My money went to Moldova, through the Philippines. Then the fake Brad Pitt asked me for another three thousand euros to send the package directly to my home. Now I just want to know who is really behind this hoax,” the woman explains.

She tells that she was seduced and stopped thinking about the logic of such a gift, so much money, for someone to send her: “Well, you should have seen how he talks to me. He sends me hearts and kisses, plays a lot with feelings and emotions. He says he loves me.”

When she realized that she was deceived, she admits that she got very angry: “I woke up. I’m not stupid, but how many women don’t wake up and are cheated much more than me. There are many female celebrity crushes on the internet. Now I am calm and it is good that my experience is made public, to stop these scams”.

According to Civil Guard sources quoted by La Region, the scam would come from the Philippines. Once the bank transfer is made, as it is an immediate economic transaction made through MoneyGram, the recovery of the money is practically impossible, say the police.
