Liverpool and Feyenoord have reached an agreement regarding the compensation to be paid for Arne Slot, who will become Jurgen Klopp’s successor on the English bench.
Initially, after Xabi Alonso announced that he would stay at Leverkusen, it seemed that Ruben Amorim, from Sporting, was the big bet of the “cormorants” officials, but the Sporting technician went to London to negotiate with West Ham.
Slot, 45, is now free to sign for Liverpool and will arrive at Anfield this summer after a magnificent season at Feyenoord.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool will pay between 13 and 15 million euros for Feyenoord to break Slot’s contract. The technician had confirmed on Tuesday that he was going to accept the job offered by Liverpool, saying he was confident before the two teams reached an agreement.
The contract between Liverpool and SLot could be signed this weekend.
Arne Slot and the new Liverpool
Arne Slot, the 45-year-old Dutchman from Feyenoord, this week became the favorite to replace Jurgen Klopp on the technical bench of Liverpool.
The information was revealed by the club’s “house” journalists from Anfield, being later commented on by several important voices from the world of football.
Today, the Feyenoord coach spoke about the possibility of succeeding Klopp this summer. Arne Slot declared himself delighted and said he was optimistic that this would happen, with the two clubs now in negotiations for the coach’s transfer.
“I would like to become the new manager of Liverpool, my decisions are clear. Feyenoord and Liverpool are in talks to negotiate, I’m waiting to see what comes out of it. I am confident, I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement“, Arne Slot told ESPN.
The Athletic journalists also wrote about how Liverpool’s squad could look under Arne Slot. The future coach of the “cormorants” will have a hot summer to create a competitive team.
According to the quoted source, they will not take world-class footballers who will guarantee performance in the shortest time, the Dutchman who will arrive in place of Klopp having a long-term plan, which targets some of the most promising players in Europe.
First on the new coach’s list will be Santiago Gimenez, the 23-year-old Argentine-born Mexican striker who shone under Slot at Feynoord. Arne Slot’s other bet will be Atalanta central midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, who has 14 goals and 5 assists this season for Gasperini’s side in all competitions.
The Dutch technician will also need a right-sided striker in the context of Salah’s departure. This time, however, Slot will not have a free hand, with the Anfield chiefs in longer talks with West Ham for England international Jarrod Bowen.
One last position that Liverpool need to strengthen in the summer is that of centre-back. Liverpool officials are following Piero Hincapie (Leverkusen), Jean-Clair Todibo (Nice) and Marc Guehi (Palace) in this regard, but it is not excluded that other options may appear.
