Huawei Watch Fit 3 REVIEW

--

When you hear Watch Fit you might think of fitness bracelets, but this is not that kind of thing. It’s a smart watch that competes directly with the Fitbit Versa or the Apple Watch, at an extremely competitive cost.

As a brief summary of Huawei’s wearable series, the Ultimate zone is for adventurers, the Watch and Watch GT are men’s watches, the Watch Fit 3 is the lifestyle zone, the Band is in the display fitness bracelet zone, while the Watch It’s towards the medical device area.

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 has been with us for the test for the past few weeks and we can say that they are a very good proposition for those who want a unisex watch, who want to monitor health and fitness functions and want a device that can match any clothing . Somehow the Huawei Watch Fit 3 tricks people into looking like a more expensive device than it is.

Design and quality

The Fit 3 evolves from previous generations with a more premium look and a larger screen size. Its height is 43 millimeters and width 36 millimeters, larger than the previous generation which was only taller. Thus, the design now brings much more with established models on the market such as Fitbit Versa or Apple Watch. For me, this means that it fits better with a sports outfit, but also with a more fashionable one, especially with this textil bracelet that I had.

The body of the watch is made of aluminum and the corners are rounded. On the edge you have two design elements that stand out. The red rotating crown which is a very cool element and the button which also contains a red texture.

An advantage of the watch is that it has much more screen than other watches on the market, the comparison can be made with Apple’s Watch SE. And it has a thickness of only 9.9 millimeters and a light weight of 26 grams, which makes it extremely comfortable to wear and sleep on. And I’m a man who doesn’t sleep with the clock precisely because it makes me uncomfortable. It’s thinner and lighter than other models on the market.

I had the bracelet with the text and with scales, which I really liked. Also, because it is versatile, youthful and different from the rubber ones. In fact, it’s not rubber, because it’s called fluoroelastomer, that is, an elastic material reminiscent of it.

The business that reduces the costs of companies with technology and digitization

You have 6 options for bracelets – the nylon one, which I have called textile until now, and the leather one, which also have an increased elegance because they are not attached directly to the body of the watch, but also have two hinges, for lack of a better word good. The fluoroelastomer bracelets come in 4 colors – black, pink, green and cream.

Huawei Fit 3 screen

Moving on, the screen makes it stand out and I saw that in daily use. It has a high brightness and withstands the sun very well. It’s a 1.82-inch AMOLED screen in very saturated colors, the screen is slightly curved, i.e. that 2.5D that is often presented on smartwatches, and the edges are metal.

Some good numbers – 77% screen-to-body ratio, 347 pixels per inch HD resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate and 1,500 nits brightness. All the figures are superior to the two other models mentioned, Fitbit Versa and Apple Watch SE 2, but what I especially liked is that it is a usable screen and not very small, it has a square shape with rounded corners that it doesn’t look out of a puffy bag and looks flawless in the sun.

What can you do with a watch? Well, it’s simple – notifications on the phone, it works with everything – Android, Huawei, iPhone, but also different monitoring. Whether we are talking about health or fitness, important things that have been improved by Huawei.

The watch connects to the Huawei Health application that helps you monitor well-being functions such as sleep, blood oxygenation, pulse, but also many sports. You have 101 sports built in automatically, but you’ll have to take my word for it, I couldn’t play squash and polo. Importantly, it withstands 5 atmospheres underwater.

Fitness and activity monitoring

Compared to the previous generation, the Huawei Watch Fit 3 comes with an artificial intelligence engine that helps users with suggestions. The reason is simple – most of us forget to do these things and smartwatches act as reminders. Huawei has understood that the smart watch works as a mini personal trainer and offers suggestions, and the applications have undergone a redesign, whether we are talking about activity rings, contextual recommendations, for example if it is very hot, it tells you not to go out by bike , but to do sports in the gym.

I’m not a great athlete. Let’s face it, most of the reviews you’ll see on this device aren’t from people who run. At the sensor level, they have been improved, and on top of them came artificial intelligence that can create a training plan that includes the warm-up, give you a pace to follow (this is very useful if you want to participate in a half marathon), it tells you to stretch and a comparison with other users, but also a time prediction. So, you can train with the help of a device that is not very expensive. Also, if you run in the stadium, you have features that track this so you can have accurate monitoring.

On the food monitoring side, an interesting thing that was added by Huawei and that will soon work in Romania as well is that you can add what you ate. This is not new, but the grocery list has been updated to be mostly in sync with what you have in stores in Romania. Because otherwise it would have been complicated to enter manually, now you can search in Huawei Health and add the products directly. Thus, the application knows how much a dose of Coca-Cola is in calories and can then give you recommendations. Thus, the watch can easily monitor the difference between nutrition and sports to give you recommendations if you had a diet that is not suitable, you had an excess of calories or even a deficit.

The monitoring of football, basketball, padel, but also eSports has been improved, but that’s what I’m waiting for you to test. In addition, there is synchronization with fitness equipment that you find in gyms in Bucharest so that you can participate in group cycling classes or train individually and have the data in the same place.

Health on Huawei Fit 3

On the health side, Huawei uses a bunch of sensors called TruSeen, which have reached generation 5.5, for more accurate monitoring of pulse and blood oxygenation, but also better sleep monitoring.

On your sleep you have the Huawei TruSleep 4.0, and my comparison was with the Oura Ring that I have. There are small differences from the long-term context, because I’ve had Oura for almost two years, and Huawei has only just learned, but the sleep data is very close, both in terms of deep sleep and REM sleep. The tendency of the watch is to identify less deep sleep than the ring, but here it may be a thing of the algorithm or of the position – the watch is on the hand, the ring is on the finger. In addition, the watch also has a Sleep Breathing Awareness Feature that alerts you if you snore or have breathing problems during sleep.

Otherwise, you can record the pulse, either punctually or permanently, it has sensors that can warn you if there is a risk of arrhythmia, but you have to activate this from Huawei Health, you monitor the oxygenation of the blood and all the data is united including the above part of food.

For women there is a menstrual cycle monitoring function.

As I said, it’s a powerful watch with many functions for a very low cost. The Huawei ecosystem is growing, the sensors are improving, and a watch is no longer just a way to see notifications on the phone, but a simple and almost forgettable way to constantly know if things are going well. I tell you from my own experience. When the pulse is high, the sleep was not quality, I already received a signal. Well, a few days later I had a cold.

I said you were forgetting. Well, one thing I liked about this watch is the battery life. At the time of writing this review I have been using the terminal for 9 days and I still have 12% battery left, which would probably take me until I go to bed. So you have a watch that you charge 3 times a month and then it works pretty much autonomously. It also has fast charging, if you charge for 10 minutes you have energy for a day and you won’t need more than 60-70 minutes.

It’s up to you how much input you want to give. If you want to get the most out of it, I recommend making the effort to add the nutrition and integration with the fitness devices you use so you can get a proper overview of yourself.

I also liked the simple things. From the classic notification to get up from the chair from time to time to conclusions received in the morning after sleeping.

In other news, it connects to headphones and you can download music in Huawei Health. Huawei also added a new series of watch faces, I liked the standard one that changes color when you use the rotating crown.

You have a downside – you can’t pay with it, which can be a downside for people who do. I don’t usually use watches for payments, so I didn’t miss it, but if you need it, keep that in mind.

Price and conclusions

You’ve been waiting until now. Huawei Watch Fit 3 costs 769 lei at the time of launch on the Huawei Store.

Between May 7 and 21, users will receive a 199 lei voucher valid for a free Watch Fit 3 strap. It also comes bundled with FreeBuds SE2 headphones as a gift.

The watch is competitively priced. From my point of view, it looks better and more expensive than the Fitbit Versa 4, which is 700 lei at the moment. And in higher price ranges, the Apple Watch SE 2 is already 1,200 lei and has a smaller screen than this one.

You can say a lot about Huawei, personally I’ve been a fan of two ranges for a while now. The headphones they launch which are ingenious and interesting, but also the smart watches. Fit 3 looks good with any outfit and a minus that I say again for some users is the lack of Huawei Wallet in Romania, so you can’t make payments with it. I personally prefer to use the phone for payments, I never liked it with the watch, but to each their own.
