During the opening ceremony of the “Alina Dumitru” International Judo Tournament, the glories of Romanian sport were present, including Helmut Duckadam, but also the vice-president of the Romanian Judo Federation, Dan Deliu.

The Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 represent a very important landmark in the history of Romanian judo. More precisely, in this competition, Alina Dumitru managed to become the first Romanian judoka to win the gold medal in this discipline.

Also, Alina Dumitru obtained another important title during the Olympic Games. Judoka from Romania won a silver medal in 2012 in London.

Currently, the former performance athlete is the face of a competition that bears her name, the “Alina Dumitru” International Tournament. This year’s edition of the sports event takes place on April 27.

At the opening ceremony, several important people of Romanian sport were present, who spoke in front of the spectators and the participants of the competition.

Among the personalities who spoke at the opening ceremony of the “Alina Dumitru” International Judo Tournament is Helmut Duckadam: “I am surprised that so many children do judo, I did not imagine this. Congratulations to the parents, teachers and… one piece of advice I want to give to the children. If you want to perform, know that talent is 20 percent. 80% is work”.

The judo gold medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics expressed her gratitude to the people present at the event: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being with me today and for being part of this wonderful judo family. As I always say, may the best win and follow your dream.”

Alina Dumitru confirmed by saying that she brought various personalities from the world of sports to this event so that young people and children have models to follow. He then thanked the parents present for supporting their children.

The vice-president of the Romanian Judo Federation spoke during the opening ceremony of the competition and about the basic principles of this sport: “Judo starts with ‘Rei’ and ends with ‘Rei.’ That is, it starts with respect and ends with respect, in between we have: modesty, dedication, honor, we also have discipline”.
