Fuel price drop: how much is diesel and petrol now?

This was demonstrated by an ADAC assessment on April 23. The liter of Super E10 costs on average 1,848 euros nationally/liter. That’s 1.8 cents less than the previous week, when the fuel hit its high for the year by 1,866 euros/liter. The price of diesel has fallen further. “A liter costs on average 1,710 euroswhich means a loss of 3.5 cents from the previous week“, writes ADAC. The price difference between fuels increases to 13.8 cents per liter. Because of lower taxation, diesel should be 20 cents cheaper, the motoring club warns.

Gasoline and diesel are getting cheaper: ADAC still sees room for improvement

The drop in fuel prices is driven by several factors. One of them has to do with a slight relaxation from the Middle East, crude oil becoming cheaper. A barrel of Brent currently costs around US$88 (around €82). namely one US dollar less than the previous week. “Regardless of this, there is the potential for further price reductions for both types of fuel,” ADAC points out. The car club sees room for improvementespecially when it comes to diesel, thanks to the tax advantage over Super E10. Read also ► Fuel price cap: how much a liter of diesel and petrol should cost

This is how you can make power cheaper

In addition to a fuel-efficient driving style, you can quickly save a few extra euros with these tips:

  • Feed in the evening instead of in the morning: You should also pay attention to price differences throughout the day. According to a study, fuel is usually cheapest between 6pm and 10pm. The assessment shows that around 9 cents per liter can be saved during these hours compared to the most expensive time of day (7am).
  • The first gas station you go to is not always the cheapest: drivers should therefore compare fuel prices before filling up. Price differences between gas stations are up to 7 cents per liter and even much more compared to highway gas stations. This not only helps you save money, but also encourages competition in the fuel market.
