In a certain locality in Romania, the price of a kilogram of cherries is three times lower than what we find in the markets.
During this period, an unusual purchase can be a kilogram of cherries, because of the very high price. Especially outside Bucharest, on DN 1, prices can reach 100 lei per kilogram, equivalent to approximately 22 dollars. However, the situation changes considerably depending on the place of purchase.
In the town of Păulești in Prahova county, the cherries have started to ripen, and the orchards are full of fruit ready to be picked. Here, the locals sell their harvest by the side of the road, at much more affordable prices.
Păulești is known for its many cherries and this month also hosts a fruit festival, where the competition is fierce to bring the most delicious and juicy cherries.
If you’re looking for cheaper cherries, this place is an attractive option. The kilogram of cherries is sold here between 20 and 25 lei, sometimes reaching up to 30 lei, while in markets or supermarkets the prices can reach 70 lei for the same kilogram of cherries, according to observatorulph.ro.
