Sibiu City Hall will organize, at the end of this week, a tender for contracting the maintenance and repair services of the artesian wells and street boots. The 12-month contract is to begin in June and cover all 19 artesian wells and 30 street wells located on public property in the city.

According to the documentation in the tender notice, the maintenance activities include the constant supervision of their operation, the cleaning of the basins, the pump room and the assemblies required for commissioning, as well as the reconditioning and painting of the exposed surfaces. In addition, the wells will benefit from periodic treatments for PH regulation and algae control, helping to maintain clean and healthy water for the urban environment.

A particularity of the contract is the mention of the flexible mode of operation of the fountains, with the possibility of electronic programming and adjustment of the schedule for night operation, depending on the requirements and financial resources of the local administration. The fountains will operate daily between 07:00 and 22:00 or 06:00 and 24:00 during the warm season, with the possibility of extending the program in favorable weather conditions.

The maintenance of artesian wells and wells is necessary “so that they serve the needs of the community and at the same time constitute an attraction for the citizens of the city and for tourists”, argues the municipality.

The town hall requires that their maintenance be done weekly (checking the mode of operation, electrical and water installations); biweekly (cleaning the water gloss and inside the fountain, checking and cleaning the nozzles, filling the water level); monthly (checking the electrical installation in the control panel, cleaning and adjusting the pumps, checking the projectors and decorative lighting, checking the water circuit, changing the water), as well as bimonthly (application of treatments with anti-algae solutions, disinfectant and PH adjustment) .

The estimated value of the services is stated to be 260,000 lei (approximately 52,000 euros), including VAT. The auction will take place on May 10. The award criterion is “lowest price”.

Last year’s contract was signed with Total C&V Solutions SRL, founded in 2003 in Sibiu, and was worth 147,000 lei without VAT. In June 2023, there were 17 artesian wells and 23 street wells in the municipality.
