The lack of performance in recent years has caused Romania to collapse in the ranking, and the next season will bring another drastic drop.

In the current edition of the European Cups, Romania failed to reach even a single team in the group stage, all four representatives, Farul, FCSB, CFR Cluj and Sepsi, stopping in the preliminary rounds.

From next season, we will go down to the 28th position in the UEFA ranking, below countries like Israel, which has just reached the 11th, Poland, Hungary, Cyprus, Azerbaijan or Bulgaria. And the times when Romania sent two teams to the Champions League seem long gone, as the distance to the 13th-15th places, which would ensure this benefit, increases from year to year.

Even for FCSB, the team that is separated by only one point from becoming mathematically champion in the Superliga, the road will not be easy at all. The red-blue quotient has dropped drastically in the last 5 years in which they have reached the groups only once (season 22-23, Conference League), and after the first round, in which they will have the chance to encounter slightly easier opponents, the situation it will complicate a lot. FCSB will be seeded only in the first preliminary round.
