The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, opposes the participation of some EU representatives in the investiture ceremony of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which will take place on Tuesday in Moscow, a European Commission spokesman said on Monday, quoted by the EFE agency, Agerpres reports.

This spokesman, Peter Stano, confirmed that the Kremlin sent the EU states and the EU representation in Moscow invitations to participate in the investiture ceremony.

According to the same community spokesperson, Borrell does not agree that the EU states follow this invitation, but a decision has not yet been made and the European Commission is holding discussions with the member states to determine the best course of action in this case.

According to a French diplomatic source quoted by Reuters, France will be represented by its ambassador in Moscow at the re-investigation of President Putin. France took note of the results of the elections held in Russia in March, but condemns the repressive context in which they took place, the said source added.

Relations between Paris and Moscow have deteriorated significantly as French President Emmanuel Macron has suggested the possibility that Ukraine’s allies could send troops to the country to help it in its war with Russia, if substantial arms and ammunition aid to Kiev is not provided. be enough to stop the advance of the Russian troops.

After Macron spoke again about this possibility, the French ambassador to Russia was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday. The British ambassador was also summoned, following a statement in which British Foreign Minister David Cameron said that the Ukrainian army has London’s authorization to hit targets directly on Russian territory with British weapons.
