The Border Police specified, on Monday evening, that at the Giurgiu Border Crossing Point they are working at maximum capacity, on all six lanes at the entrance to the country, and the waiting time at the border control does not exceed 20 minutes. In contrast, the waiting time is long in Bulgaria, where those coming to Romania have to pay the toll. Between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., approximately 30,000 people and 7,500 means of transport showed up at Giurgiu PTF to enter the country.

The representatives of the Border Police conveyed, on Monday evening, that during the entire period of the mini-holiday, at the level of the institution, measures were ordered to streamline the traffic at the crossing points and to strengthen the state border surveillance device. Thus, the capacity of the points is used to the maximum, and depending on the traffic, the control arteries are supplemented within the limits of the infrastructure of each border point.

“The transit of people and means of transport took place under normal conditions for this period, without any blockages or long waiting times,” the quoted source said.

The most transited border point with Bulgaria was, during this period, PTF Giurgiu.

“At the moment, when entering the country, the point is working at maximum capacity, respectively on 6 lanes, and the waiting time at the border control does not exceed 20 minutes. Between 07:00 and 19:00, approximately 30,000 people and 7,500 means of transport showed up to enter the country. However, it should be noted that before entering the country, people coming from Bulgaria to Romania must stop at the border authorities in Bulgaria to pay the toll. Here the waiting time is high, as a result of the fact that a very large number of means of transport are presented in a very short time”, said the representatives of the Border Police.

They advised drivers to use all crossing points open to international traffic. 11 border points are operational on the border with Bulgaria, while 12 points are operational on the border with Hungary.

It is also recommended to consult the Trafic Online application to choose a less transited point and prepare the travel documents before reaching the border police control filters, so that the waiting time is as short as possible and the transit be operative and fluent.
