The USR accuses the liberals that in the Dragomirești-Vale commune of Ilfov county, a “communist-type dictatorship” would have been established, considering that only the current mayor in office, respectively the PNL candidate, remained on the ballot. Although the Local Electoral Office admitted the candidacies of the United Right alliance, the incumbent PNL mayor, Gheorghe Socol, challenged the lists at the Buftea Court and won the case. Thus, on June 9, in the local elections, people will have a choice between the current mayor and the current mayor, from the PNL.

“Mr. Bode announces today, triumphantly, that the PNL can win the local elections. But he forgot to tell us how: through combinations. Local or central. The PNL mafia from Ilfov does not want to let the residents of Dragomirești-Vale choose for their future by themselves. The people there have the right to choose who will administer their community, but the PNL does not let them. My colleague Ionuț Dinu, a young man who loves his hometown, had, in 2020, 38.4% of the votes. This time, the City Hall would have won, for sure”, says the president of USR, Cătălin Drula.

“What happened to me is easy to understand if you follow the logical line of events. I hoped until the last moment that what one judge, who made a separate opinion in court, saw, others would also see. Even if it seems that democracy is on hold in Ilfov, my colleagues and I will do everything in our power so that the people of Dragomirești-Vale know that it is possible in another way, that the PNL mafia has not captured us all and for for a long time”, says Ionuț Dinu, the United Right proposal for Dragomirești-Vale City Hall.

The hallucinatory situation in Dragomirești-Vale is a particularly serious attack on the Romanian Constitution and fundamental electoral rights, reports USR.

“Although the Local Electoral Bureau admitted the candidacies of the United Right alliance, the incumbent PNL mayor, Gheorghe Socol, contested the lists at the Buftea Court. The reason cited was a totally aberrant one: the fact that the alliance protocol and the candidacy lists were signed by two different people. The Buftea court rejected the appeal. Instead, the Ilfov Court admitted the appeal, practically establishing a PNL dictatorship in the commune to the detriment of the United Right candidate, who threatened the seat of the PNL mayor. The bottom line is that, of the three judges, two argued that a document did not exist in the file, while the third built his separate opinion solely on its basis. USR tried to prevent this abuse by using all the available appeals, including the exceptional ones: the appeal for annulment of the final decision in the court, as well as the request to resubmit the candidacy within the deadline. USR will continue to bring to light the abuses of the PNL mafia in Ilfov”, states the USR information.
