A street in the town of Slănic, Prahova county, collapsed on Thursday morning. The asphalt and pavers actually slipped, traffic in the area was stopped, and the residents of the houses in the area were evacuated.
According to G4media.ro, on the street in question, “23 August”, a crater about 2 meters deep was formed.
The area was completely closed to traffic, the Prahova Prefecture and the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations announced.
The local residents of the area were evacuated, fearing, however, that the damage will spread to the blocks, which are about 50 meters from the crater.

“For now, in the current situation, we could not take measures, because we have no way of knowing what is underneath. We will see what the specialists will say. We must take into account that salt has been exploited in Slănic for 2000 years. We still cannot do you know if we have to relocate families from the affected area”, said the mayor of the city, Costea Daneluş, according to the cited source.
A team of experts from Bucharest will also arrive in Slănic Prahova.
“Considering the emergency situation produced in the town of Slănic in Prahova county, generated by the subsidence of the land, followed by the formation of a crater with a depth of approximately 2 meters on an area of over 60 square meters, at the level of the MAI there was an analysis through which the secretary of state, head of the DSU, Dr. Raed Arafat, ordered the dispatch of a team made up of DSU and IGSU personnel to the site, to be completed as soon as possible with construction and mining specialists”, they sent to the representatives of the Department for Emergency Situations.
At the end of last year, cracks appeared in the ground in another area of the city, which affected several households and houses.
