Fuel prices on Wednesday, April 24. Today, the lowest price for standard gasoline remains unchanged on Wednesday, being 7.33 lei per liter. This can be found at a Petrom station located in Bucharest, on Dr. Herescu Petre street, no. 2A, in sector 5.
At the other stations in Bucharest, prices for standard gasoline vary between 7.35 and 7.49 lei, registering a slight decrease.
For premium gasoline, prices fluctuate between 7.84 lei and 8.14 lei, also slightly decreasing.
The minimum price for standard diesel in Bucharest is 7.40 lei per liter on Wednesday, compared to 7.42 lei per liter recorded on Tuesday. This can be found at a Socar station on Vasile Lascăr street no. 141A.
The maximum price for standard diesel reaches 7.53 lei per liter in Bucharest, also decreasing.

During the past year, the price of a liter of standard gasoline exceeded the threshold of 8 lei. Also, standard diesel ended up costing more than 9 lei per liter.
How fuel prices evolve
The Competition Council found that fuel prices at filling stations follow a similar evolution to the international Platts quotations for petrol and diesel, with a difference of several days. This was observed following a study that re-analyzed how changes in Platts quotes are reflected in pump prices.
The Platts quote is an international reference price for the petrol or diesel market. This is determined by demand, supply and transactions between traders in the wholesale fuel market. Although Platts quotes are not public, over the long term they tend to follow the same trend as oil barrel prices.
Thus, when Platts international quotations for gasoline and diesel increase, the price of fuel at the pump in Romania tends to increase. When quotes go down, gas station prices tend to go down.
Most price adjustments at the pump occur within a week or so of both rising and falling Platts international benchmark quotes.
