The disease that George Simion suffers from. He canceled all his plans

--

George Simion, the leader of the alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), announced on social networks that he fell ill. Basically, he says that he will not participate in the actions planned for the next period.

George Simion has pneumonia

George Simion, the leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), communicated through social networks that he received the diagnosis of a mild form of pneumonia.

“Thank you for the St. George wishes! A mild pneumonia stops me from participating in the planned actions for a while,” wrote Simion on his Facebook account.

The AUR leader did not provide information on the estimated length of the recovery period, but noted that he will take a temporary break from political activities to devote time to recovery.

Given this event, it is likely that party activities that required his presence will be rescheduled or handled by other members of the AUR leadership.

On social media, Simion’s supporters and colleagues sent him messages of encouragement.

AUR, accused of systematic anti-Ukrainian activities

AUR is facing new accusations from Ukraine. The party is accused of preparing actions aimed at damaging Ukraine’s image.

According to officials from the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv, the AUR is said to be preparing a disinformation campaign. This aims to suggest that Romanians in Ukraine are oppressed.

According to the same officials, representatives of a “pro-Russian party” are currently conducting interviews with priests from villages in the regions:

  • Chernivtsi
  • Zakarpattia
  • and Odessa

Most of the ethnic Romanians in Ukraine live in these areas.

In addition, the AUR is accused of conducting interviews with the families of men who are currently conscripted into the Ukrainian military as part of their plans for a propaganda operation.

Claudiu Târziu rejected, through a statement published on Sunday, the accusations brought by the Ukrainian intelligence service. He categorized them as misinformation.

“The Kiev regime […] he rudely interferes in Romania’s internal affairs, in the ongoing electoral campaign. At the same time, Kiev also aims to intimidate Romanians in Ukraine, as well as to intimidate the Romanian Patriarchate”, says Târziu.

He, in turn, accuses the Ukrainian intelligence service of repeating and spreading the lie that the operation was coordinated by Russia.

AUR alludes to information that representatives of the Bulgarian party “Renaissance” are conducting a similar campaign in the Odesa region. They focus on villages populated mainly by ethnic Bulgarians.
