Galatians who chose to spend the Easter holidays at home stormed the city’s parks on the first day of the holiday

After eating their fill of traditional dishes, people went out for a walk. This is why, on May 5, starting at 4:00 p.m., the city’s Public Garden became animated and resounded both with the music played by the merchants in the park and with the voices of the children who did not leave the playgrounds and the carousels mounted right in the middle of the park.

“We came out to make our digestion easier”

The Easter figurines mounted at the entrance to the Public Garden were the favorite scenery of the walkers for Easter 2024 photos. The little ones were hardly convinced by their parents to linger for a few moments for the pictures. The candy and juice stalls were, for the little ones, more important than the pictures of the adults. “Mom, I don’t want to take pictures anymore. Ready. Let’s go ride the little train and the carousel and then buy me some good food from that stall with a lot of red. I would like to eat something sweet!”. That’s how six-year-old Maria tried to convince her parents to give up the pictures and take some money out of their pocket for her fun. The parents’ arguments that everyone ate cozonac and other traditional products at the Easter table fell silent in front of the bubble tea stalls and those with chocolate waffles and ice cream in the park. Attracted by the beautiful weather, the people of Galata walked for hours through the parks to make room for the pieces of the following Easter days. “I left the house a little because I felt the need to move. We have a lot of relatives and the three days of Easter are not enough to reach everyone, so we made plans to see each other the following days and, as everyone prepared traditional products that must now be eaten, we also need movement”, a lady told us, while admiring the flowers in the Public Garden.

If, for the little ones, the playgrounds or candy stalls were the attractions, most of the adults enjoyed boiled corn, prepared by one of the vendors from the stalls in the Garden. Because the weather is still nice and the students are on vacation, the walks and outdoor fun will continue for the next few days.
