Romanian Post employees decide, today, if they will continue the protests – Radio Romania Oltenia Craiova

The Post Office employees, the union members, must decide whether to accept the proposal put forward by the management of the National Company, following the protests of the last period and the cessation of work, yesterday, in several offices in the country.

The project of the new collective labor agreement includes a wage increase in two installments which in the fall would lead to a total net increase of approximately 370 lei on average, calculates the leader of the National Bank of Romania, to which he is affiliated to the Romanian Postal Workers Union. The employees requested an increase of 400 lei, in the context in which – they say – more than half of the workers receive the minimum wage in the economy.

Dumitru Costin stated that after the minimum wage increase, expected in the middle of the year, there would be even more employees at this salary level:

The increase in two installments, at the beginning of July and in September, is what Posta can afford at the moment, says Cristian Tapalăgă, director within the company and its representative in the negotiation committee:

A decision on ending or continuing the protest would be announced this morning. According to the National Trade Union Bloc, 7 thousand employees of the Post Office, from 32 counties, were on strike yesterday.
