The AUR Alliance – formed by Alinaţa for the Union of Romanians, the Republican Party of Romania and the Romanian National Conservative Party – asked the Central Electoral Bureau to officially change its name to the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, the request being rejected. Previously, BEC accepted the protocol for establishing the AUR Alliance.
BEC adopted, in Tuesday’s meeting, a Decision rejecting the rectification Act of the protocol establishing the electoral alliance “Alianţa AUR”.
The three formations requested, through the rectification act, that the official name of the formation be the Alliance for the Union of Romanians.
“The BEC qualifies the act in question as an act of modification of the protocol”, appreciates the BEC, adding that the protocol establishing the AUR Alliance has already been approved by a final decision.
Consequently, the BEC rejects the name change act, but the decision can be challenged within 48 hours at the High Court of Cassation and Justice.
