The candidate for Bucharest City Hall of the Alliance for Romanian Unity (AUR) party filed a criminal complaint against Nicusor Dan with the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) on Tuesday. Mihai Enache, from AUR, accuses the current mayor of the Capital of non-transparent financing of his electoral campaign.
Criminal campaign finance complaint
Last week, the mayor of the capital, Nicușor Dan, revealed his sources of funding for the electoral campaign, showing that he received 300,000 euros from donations and that he is going to receive another 100,000 euros from the Save Romania Union (USR) party.
“At this moment, we are approaching 300,000 euros from donations from individuals. USR will finance me with 100,000 euros; USR is a parliamentary party and receives a subsidy,” Nicusor Dan declared on Thursday. On the same occasion, Nicusor Dan reminded that, in accordance with the party and campaign financing law, candidates for the mayor’s office can spend up to 200 minimum salaries on the economy ( the current equivalent of 650,000 lei), money that they intend to lend and later be reimbursed by the state.
Caragiale the ally of Nicușor Dan
After learning about the complaint of the AUR candidate, who also asked him to specify the real cost of the street advertising with which he “studded” Bucharest, Nicusor Dan answered him ironically: “Caragiale said that the hardest thing for a Romanian who knows how to to read is not to write. I urge them to write.”
Nicușor DAn also stated that 57,000 Bucharesters signed for his new candidacy for the Capital City Hall.

The AUR candidate, Mihai Enache, held the position of executive director of the Development Directorate of the Sector 4 City Hall, headed by Daniel Băluță, until March this year, according to the CV posted by the candidate on his own website. Mihai Enache was born on September 8, 1988 and has two faculties and a master’s degree.
