Tennessee softball’s Karen Weekly on team becoming SEC regular season champions

What Tennessee softball’s Karen Weekly said after the team became back-to-back SEC regular season champions and how Kiki Milloy has persevered this season.

Tennessee softball will have to wait longer than scheduled to start its quest to defend its SEC Tournament title.

The No. 1 seed Lady Vols (40-9) were supposed to face No. 8 seed LSU (39-14) at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama at 11 am ET Thursday (SEC Network). But the SEC posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 10:24 am there was a weather delay. There was not a new game time given initially, and the conference said, “Stay tuned for more updates on start time.”

At 11:09 am, https://twitter.com/Vol_Softball/status/1788587195453907019 it was officially in an “indefinite rain delay” and the next update would come at 1 pm ET.

The Lady Vols won their second straight SEC regular-season championship for the first time last weekend. They swept the SEC titles last year, also for the first time, and they have a chance to sweep the titles in back-to-back seasons for the third time in conference history. LSU and Florida are the only two teams to accomplish the feat.

The Lady Vols completed the sweep of Kentucky to end the regular season with a walk-off win in the eighth inning Saturday. They have now recorded their 21st consecutive full season with 40 or more wins going into the postseason.
