The National Health Insurance House only has funds for the first nine months of the year, not covering the last quarter, CNAS president Valeria Herdea announced at Profit Health.forum XIII Edition.

We have money for nine months. Last quarter we have no money. Either we all make an effort to try to reduce expenses and losses in the system and try to mobilize patients to come proactively, in such a way that the prevention that costs less helps them not to reach the disease in the future years and to have a correct forecast “, said Herdea.

She announced that an inter-institutional project between the Ministry of Finance, the Romanian College of Doctors, the National House of Health Insurance is being launched, in which the Ministry of Health is also invited to participate, so that mixed teams check the efficiency of the service providers’ activity medical.

The President of CNAS drew attention, at the same time, that Romania could face a shortage of medical personnel, given that, currently, half of those working in Health are part of a generation that in 4-6 years will retire.

“Half of those we have will remain. (…) 50% of the educated people of this country in the medical field will either work after retirement until they raise others, or we change the policy in the field of human resources, or we do something in in such a way that we develop the medical care network very well”, explained Herdea.

In his opinion, health care salaries are “in vain” if there is no reform.

“If we’re not going to reform, we’re raising wages for nothing. (…) If we don’t have the courage to talk about the insured – insurer contract, we’re not going to reform. Talking about the insured – insurer contract means that every person has to understand that they have rights when he is insured, that this insurance company like it offers some things by which he can preserve his health, if he is an active partner with doctors, regardless of which segment. We should think very carefully that there are also rights and obligations in mirror. One of them would be that of the presentation, of the simple appointment with the family doctor in the month of birth. (…) There should also be these obligations of the patient”, emphasized Valeria Herdea.
