Almost three decades have passed since its release Forrest Gump, and now Michael Humphreys he is unrecognizable, at the age of 39. He was born in Memphis and impressed a whole world with his talent, successfully playing the young version of his character Tom Hanks.

Michael Humphreys is currently 38 years old and occasionally posts photos on his Instagram account. He now lives in Portland, Oregon. Like the character he played, he joined the United States Army. Moreover, he also had active missions in conflict zones, such as Iraq.
He was only eight years old when he attended casting for Forrest Gump. The producers were looking for a young actor to look like Tom Hanks and who can play such an unusual role. When they heard him speak, the casting team fell in love with his strong accent and chose him for the role of Forrest Gump.
Unfortunately for his fans, Michael Humphreys did not pursue his acting career, except for two very small roles. After high school, he joined the Army and spent 18 months in Iraq. In 2019, in an interview, he revealed that he is glad that he did not pursue acting as a child.
“I’m not sure I wanted to be a child star. It seems that things are not going so well for many of them. I don’t think you can have a healthy lifestyle in Hollywood if you’re a kid. You can’t enjoy your childhood, you have to grow up fast. It is better that I chose another path.
At the time, my parents let me decide for myself what I wanted and what I wanted to do next. They never forced me to play other roles. I think that was a good thing. I never wanted to become famous in Hollywood. I liked school, I liked my house and I was more interested in spending time with my friends and having fun”he revealed, according to Page Six.
