The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) still has not found the right option for the presidency of the Botoșani County Council (CJ). For this position, the main competitors are Valeriu Iftime (PNL) and Lucian Trufin (PSD).

At the most recent press conference his name Eusebius Cilibiu he was spoken of as a potential candidate for the position of CJ president.
“Indeed, there are advanced discussions with Mr. Eusebiu Cilibiu, but we are still analyzing, as soon as it becomes concrete, we will announce the candidate for the presidency of the County Council”
If the variant Eusebius Cilibiu would fail, those from the AUR do not take into account the support of the candidate Valeriu Iftime: “No, never”responded the AUR coordinator.
Ariadna Cîrligeanu explained that the name of the CJ candidate is more difficult to announce because it is desired to throw a person into the electoral battle who is not driven by opportunism.
“It is very easy for a party to come up with a form candidate just to have a name or a candidate for the CJ presidency. It’s easy, but I repeat myself, I want to assure you that the person in question is not using the AUR logo to gain access to a political position”.

Eusebius Cilibiu confirms advanced discussions with AUR, the party he partially left in September 2023, when he resigned as president of the Municipal Organization.
He explained at the time that he needed time for his family, and politics was placed third among his priorities.
And that from being an active member of the AUR, he remained simply a sympathizer of the party.
Party with which he resumed discussions for a possible candidacy. One full of challenges considering the candidates already announced.

“They are two titans, one of politics, one of management. Who wouldn’t be a challenge? For any man involved in politics who gets to run at such a level, it would obviously be a challenge. Maybe somewhere, that turns me on. But I have no personal ambitions, I know that if I get there it will be extremely difficult to fight them. Plus they benefit from a huge advantage: party structures. Not to mention the PSD, which now has how many mayors, 60? Nobody knows anymore and it’s not over, who knows when the influx of mayors will end”,
In the meantime, Eusebius Cilibiu claims that he has been courted politically. By former colleagues from PNL, but also by other political formations from Botoșani.
