HUAWEI announces the Watch 4 Pro Space Edition, a special edition smartwatch with rare materials in the titanium case

The return from the mini-vacation comes with a special release, his HUAWEI Watch 4 Pro Space Edition, a special watch for space explorers. It’s based on the base model Watch 4 Pro, the one we tested last summer that stood out for its elegance and eSIM connectivity. Now comes a special variant of it, which we discover below.

Design

The main attraction here is the design, with HUAWEI wanting the Watch 4 Pro Space Edition to reflect dreams and ambitions, an ode to humanity’s progress in outer space. The “Space Age” design involves a nanocrystalline ceramic bezel inspired by the classic shape of a rocket engine, which is seen as the basis of space exploration. It uses Aerospace-Grade DLC titanium, which ticks both the elegance and durability aspects.

“Rare earths” elements are also included here, more precisely Ceria in the case of that shade of red. Also, the red and black colors of the dial are fused at the molecular level for a perfect balance. There are of course themes that highlight space elements such as the Laval watchface with an animation of the rocket engine starting up, displaying a different flame intensity depending on the battery level, plus a planet to explore on the screen using the rotating crown button. The Star Explorer watchface that displays zodiac constellations also appears.

Specifications and more

Before moving on to the hardware features we have to check the 5ATM (EN13319) certification for submersion resistance, the IP68 certification for water and dust resistance plus the sapphire glass protection for the screen. Regarding the display, we are working here with a 1.5-inch AMOLED LTPO panel, which delivers a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, plus top brightness.

We have Bluetooth 5.2, Bluetooth LE, NFC, but also 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, plus eSIM to associate the phone number and use the watch for calls and messages when you’re jogging, for example, and leave your smartphone at home. The battery delivers 4-5 days of typical/average use, and with active eSIM somewhere around 2 days. For top autonomy you can activate Ultra Long Battery Life (up to 21 days). We also have wireless charging.

On the monitoring side we find Health Glance 2.0 with pulse measurement, oxygen saturation, stress, skin temperature and lung health. We also have EKG, plus a notification system if a family member with a Huawei smartwatch has fallen in the house and needs help.

HUAWEI Watch 4 Pro Space Edition monitors over 100 sports, and to connect to your Android (minimum 8.0) or iOS (minimum 13.0) smartphone, you will use the HUAWEI Health application.
