MediaTek is a major player in the CPU market. I would say that in recent years it has started to seriously compete with powerful Snapdragon chipsets from Qualcomm’s portfolio, especially since they have a similar configuration. Well, the newest addition to the MediaTek portfolio is the chipset Dimensity 9300+, a model manufactured on a 4nm lithography process with a powerful NPU specially integrated to manage AI functions and options. I have details below.
Compared to the Dimensity 9300, the variant with the “+” in the tail brings minor improvements. It is manufactured on a 4nm lithography process by TSMC (the N4P process, to be exact), and the performance is focused on performing AI functions. It brings an NPU that runs LLMs (Large Language Models) with up to 33 billion parameters locally.
Like its predecessor, Dimensity 9300+ brings a core Core Cortex-X4 clocked at 3.4GHz, 3 Cortex-X4 cores clocked at 2.85 GHz, but also 4 Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2GHz. It has 18 MB of cache memory and supports new generation RAM type LPDDR5X, respectively LPDDR5T with speeds up to 9600 Mbps.
The CPU gets support for UFS 4.0 storage and there is also an MCQ technology here that improves write/read speeds. On the CPU side, the Immortalis-G720 MP12 by ARM appears, with support for ray tracing in certain games. The CPU is capable of running on devices with 4K resolution, with a refresh rate of 120Hz, and on the imaging side we get an ISP Imagiq 990 for photo/video processing.
On the connectivity side we have support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, GZSS and NavIC for global positioning. MediaTek says there would also be an advanced Wi-Fi modem that extends the range of networks by up to 4.5 meters indoors.
The new Dimensity 9300+ should debut commercially alongside terminals such as vivo X100s, iQOO Neo9s Pro, iQOO Pad2 Pro, Redmi K70 Ultra.
