WhatsApp introduced a feature in August 2023 that let you send high-quality, full-resolution photos without compressing them in any way. But with this, users had to choose the resolution manually and individually for each image, which was not exactly ideal. The beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.24.7.17, however, gives us a confirmation that all images and videos will be able to be sent in HD quality, automatically, with the help of a new function in the Storage and data menu.
This is called Media upload quality, and it lets you select the quality of the photos and videos you send in chats. You have two options, Standard and HD Quality – the first will send images and clips compressed, at a higher speed, while the second will obviously take a little longer, and you are “warned” that images can be up to 6 times larger than the standard ones, thus occupying more space.
The feature is already available to a limited number of beta testers. Once it is determined that there are no problems with it, it will be available in an official version, so we expect to see it in WhatsApp soon, with one of the next updates.
