The message sent by the FRF for the FCSB champion in which it avoids specifying the number of titles

FCSB won the title of champion after defeating Farul Constanța in the 7th stage of the play-off, and the players and fans of the red-blues stated that they are celebrating the title with the number 27 in history.

But the situation is not quite that simple. The Bucharest Court of Appeal decided that Stela’s track record from 1947 to 1998 will remain with the current CSA Steaua, while the period 2003-2024 belongs to the FCSB, currently remaining an uncertain period between 1998 and 2003 in which the judges have not yet taken no decision.

This means that CSA Steaua has 20 championship titles in League 1, 19 Romanian Cups, 2 Super Cups, 1 European Champions Cup and 1 European Super Cup, while FCSB has 6 championship titles in League 1 (5 titles under the name Steaua, one as FCSB), 3 Romanian Cups, 2 Supercups and 2 League Cups.

FRF avoided entering this debate and posted a congratulatory message for FCSB in which it made no reference to the number of titles won.

“After the victory, 2-1, against the defending champion, Farul Constanța, in the 7th stage of the play-off, FCSB managed to secure the title in Romania. Undefeated in the play-offs (5 wins and two draws), after finishing the regular season in first place, with 9 points ahead, FCSB became the champion of Romania with 3 stages before the SuperLiga final. After a break of 9 years! The Romanian Football Federation congratulates FCSB and wishes it success in the European cups next season!”was the Federation’s message published on the official website.

Two years ago, when the title was won by CFR Cluj, FRF did not shy away from making such a mention.

“CFR Cluj prevailed 2-1 against CS Universitătă Craiova at home and secured the title of champion of the 2021/2022 season! The Romanian Football Federation congratulates CFR Cluj for its eighth championship title and wishes it much success in Europe!”, was the message sent by the forum that runs Romanian football at the time.
