Record in the Premier League! It is the most prolific season in history
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire scored a goal against Sheffield United in the 33rd round of the English football championship.
After seeing off Coventry City on penalties in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final, the Red Devils were beaten 1-0 by bottom-placed Sheffield United at Old Trafford.
United equalized just before the break through Maguire, a record success of the season.
Maguire scored his 1,085th goal of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign – breaking the old record for most goals scored in a 20-team, 38-game competition.

It’s a new record for goals scored in a league campaign with many stages and games still to play – 45 to be exact – but it’s also an individual achievement for Maguire.
In the end, Manchester United still secured victory against Sheffield, which they overcame 4-2.
Although Sheffield made it 2-1, Bruno Fernandes equalized with a Harry Maguire penalty and then scored the second goal, before Rasmus Hojlund sealed victory for the Devils.
It is the first time in history that more than three goals per game have been averaged in a Premier League season.
1,084 goals were scored in the 2022/23 season, while the 2018/19, 2021/22 and 2011/12 campaigns make up the top five for most goals across the entire hierarchy.
At the current rate, over 1,200 goals will be scored in the current campaign.
United continue their push to grab a European spot, currently sitting in 6th place with 53 points.
On Saturday, Manchester United receives the visit of Burnley.
