Sloane Stephens (31 years old) made revelations about a memorable confrontation she had with Simona Halep.

She revealed that she cried for a week after the Romanian beat her in the 2018 Roland Garros final, when Simona won her first Grand Slam title.

Present in Miami, where she plays against Sorana Cîrstea, Stephens spoke about that unfortunate experience for her.

“I’ve always done so well there. It was my best Grand Slam. I’ve been in the round of 16 and the second week of Roland Garros for the last ten or twelve years, something like that. It was my best Slam, with the most matches, I would have loved to have won there, but I didn’t, it was like my heart was broken,” explained Sloane Stephens, according to Essentially Sport, quoted by prosport.ro.

Stephens said she cried for a week over the Halep match: “So I cried for about a week! It was devastating. But after that I was fine, maybe it wasn’t my time. I think it wasn’t meant for me to win Roland Garros,” added the former WTA No. 3, who won the US Open in 2017.

In Miami, tonight, in the match with Sloane Stephens, Sorana Cîrstea started the match well, leading 5-2 in the first set, at which point the match was stopped by the organizers due to the rain, to be resumed today.
