Close fight for the City Hall. PSD, below 50%

Professor Gheorghe Apetrei, the PNL candidate for the Târgu-Neamț mayor’s office, is getting dangerously close to the PSD candidate, according to a recent survey. Citizens’ dissatisfaction with the current PSD administration increases the chances of the liberals.

Professor Gheorghe Apetrei, the PNL representative in the race for the mayor of Târgu-Neamț, seems to be about to cause a major surprise in the next local elections, according to an opinion poll conducted on April 21-22, 2024. With only 8 percentage points in behind the PSD candidate, Apetrei consolidates his position, enjoying the support of 32% of respondents.

The poll found that a significant percentage, 21 percent, of voters remain undecided, which could tip the balance in favor of any candidate who manages to communicate effectively and address citizens’ concerns.

At the party level, PSD, represented by Vasilică Harpa — the current president of PSD Neamț and mayor of the city — continues to be the dominant party, but does not reach the absolute majority, with only 45% of voters’ preferences.

This, compared to the 31% achieved by the PNL, highlights a decline in the influence of the social democrats in the region.

Daniel Vasilică Harpa, the PSD candidate for the presidency of the Neamț County Council, captures 48.1% of the votes, a score that does not give reasons for optimism, especially since he comes from Târgu-Neamț and has three mayoral mandates in his portfolio. The criticism addressed to Harpa by the voters is harsh, they blame him for the lack of involvement and communication.

Among the problems reported by citizens are the poor management of water services, the condition of roads and sidewalks, and the low level of cleanliness in the city — all of which are attributed to the PSD-led administration.
