Apple is preparing a new series of products from the AirPods series, which will be released in the second part of this year. Reputed analyst Jeff Pu writes that the company from Cupertino will launch an AirPods model with a more affordable price, as well as new AirPods Max models.
Production will involve a Foxconn branch, one located in India by the end of 2024. These rumors match the predictions of Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who indicated that two updated versions of the standard AirPods will launch in September or October. They have code names B768E and B768M. The first is thought to be an entry level AirPods model, while the second will be midrange.
Gurman indicated that these new models will have design improvements to fit better in the ear, provide superior sound and a case with USB-C. The higher end version of these models could include active noise cancellation (ANC) and a speaker on the case to help with Find My Location tracking.
It’s still unclear if the budget AirPods will be as Gurman predicted and what “budget” means to Apple. Mass production of AirPod 4 will begin in May at partners GoerTek and LuxShare Precision, and the debut is expected alongside iPhone 16 in the fall. As for the new AirPods Max, it will arrive in the last quarter of 2024. It comes with a USB-C port and new colors.
