The Luxeed S7 electric sedan, developed by Chinese tech giant Huawei and Chery Auto, has begun mass deliveries after semiconductor shortages and production problems initially delayed production and deliveries, according to a Huawei executive. quoted by News.ro.

“A large number of Luxeed S7 vehicles have already rolled off the production line and are now being transported for delivery to customers,” Richard Yu, Huawei’s general manager and president of smart car solutions, posted on the Weibo social media platform.

Huawei said delivery issues for its premium electric vehicle (EV) brand should be resolved from April, local media reported this month.

The S7 sedan, the first model for the Chery Luxeed EV brand, had orders of approximately 20,000 units as of November 28.

The vehicle has a price starting at 249,800 yuan ($34,600).

Huawei’s revenue grew the fastest in four years in 2023, with a rebound in its consumer segment and revenue from new businesses such as components for smart cars, accelerating its recovery from US sanctions.

Last year, Huawei announced that it would spin off its smart car unit into a new company.

Yu said the unit would likely turn a profit from April after losing billions of yuan in the past year, local media reported.
